In this new course, Dr Naomi Fisher takes you on a deep dive into the psychology of demand avoidance, adolescence and anxiety. Naomi will explain how anxiety works and why demand avoidance isn't just about the need to avoid demands, but can also become a need to avoid feelings and thoughts as well. She'll talk about the developmental needs of adolescents, and why this can be such an anxious time of life for everyone.
You'll end with a better understanding of why your teenager is anxious and some ideas to help them to move forward. There will be some practical tips to help you work with your teen so that they (and you) can live the life that they want.
It is suitable for teenagers with and without a diagnosis. Demand avoidance is a behavioural trait and can be experienced by autistic and non-autistic people.
If your teen finds that the anxiety provoked by the demands of every day life is just too much, then this webinar might be helpful.
